Chapter 23

Capitalism-An economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.

Socialism -A theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

Communism-A theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.

chapter 22

1.  Pick two countries in Chapter 22 and provide an in depth paragraph on their government and how it operates. 
  • Japan like Great Britain is an island nation. also like the UK, Japan is a parliamentary democracy. the history of democratic government in japan is quite brief,however. It spans only a little more than 50 Years. Like the Contitution of the U.S. mexico's fundamental law establishes a national government with three independent branches.The ex ecutive branch is headed by the president, the legislature is bicameral, and the judeciary is an independent entity.
2. What are some of the similarities of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
  • They all have some form of president,the all have a form of a constitution, and some of them have a national government.
3. What are some of the differences of the countries that are in Chapter 22?
  • the countries do not all have the same laws as  most of them, when you think of a government we think big office and people and china thinks of it as the whole nation.
4. Which country in Chapter 22 do you believe has the strongest government and why?
  • I think China because it has the biggest CCP communist party it has a some of 58 million members,and is ,by farm,the largest in the world.
5. In what ways does the U.S. government relate to the methods of governments listed in Chapter 22?

  • Most of the governments have branches of some kind and we have branches and we also have a presedent in our government we also vote for who we want to take office.
